Your organisation has the ability to issue a Data or Census return for your school to complete. This allows your organisation to gain valuable insights into each of their schools.
Any user with the Census > Action permission can complete a Census return. This permission is granted by the Head Teacher or a member of SLT. For more information, see our Permissions guide.
Responding to a Data Return
When your organisation issues a Data return, there will be a deadline for completion. To access the return, hover over Services > Data Returns.
The status of a data return can fall under four options.
- Draft (Your organisation is still working on this data return).
- Live (The data return is active and requires completion).
- Completed (You have completed the data return and submitted it to your organisation).
- Invalid (Your organisation has invalidated this data return).
Each option is colour-coded at the top of the screen, and your list of data return rows will correspond to these colour codes depending on their status.
The deadline will be displayed here, along with the current status of the return.
If you have a number of available or historical returns, use the Filter by status at the top of this section to refine your search.
To access the return, click View. You'll be taken directly to the data return your organisation has sent you.
Each data return will vary in appearance, depending on what your organisation has sent to you. On this page, you'll see when the data return was issued and its deadline.
If you're unable to complete it in one sitting, you can save your progress and return at any time before its deadline by clicking Save & Exit at the top.
Once you've completed all of the answers (or marked as unavailable where appropriate), you can click Submit at the top. This will let your organisation know that you have completed your data return.
Note: Once the return has been submitted, it cannot be recalled.
